Gavin Stephens, born to mixed race parents in the suburbs of Toronto (Canada’s most populous city) was raised on a mélange of cartoons, 80’s movies and BBC Comedies.  As a performer Gavin pulls from these influences with a skillful style that balances between playful irony, pop culture irreverence and unpredictable morbid silliness.

Known for his extremely quick-wit and relaxed conversational stream of consciousness comedic style, Gavin’s live show consists of surreal crowd work and improv yet he still manages to hit the crowd with sharp, innovative and satirical material.

Gavin starred in and wrote for all five seasons of the Gemini-nominated sketch show “Comedy Inc.” on CTV (rebroadcast on The Comedy Network and Spike TV).  Gavin’s sketches have even been performed on “Saturday Night Live”.  Having filmed multiple one-man specials for The Comedy Network, Gavin has been a „featured comedian? on myspace and has appeared at international festivals such as Montreal’s Festival Just For Laughs and Austin’s SXSW (sharing the stage with Margaret Cho, Janeane Garofalo and Andy Kindler).

Gavin has toured throughout Canada, England, the United States and South Africa andis sought after as a headliner with his one-man show “Meeting of the Audio Visual Squad”.  His tribute nights, “The Ghosts of Lenny Bruce”, are popular with both comic purists and new enthusiasts.  Gavin was handpicked as the opening act for Russell Peters tour.  Gavin is currently touring his solo variety show “Spectacular! Spectacular!”
